NFTLA Live Twitter Space: Introducing the Outer Edge L.A. - Updates, News & More... | By NFT LA Live & Howl Labs

Future curious space travelers, stay tuned for critical announcements. A thrilling mission awaits those excited about what's next and building it. NFT LA 2022 was a blast. It was also a blast-off in a giant plume of bright burning rocket fuel. Web3, NFTs, blockchain, decentralization and a suite of immersive new tech developments have exploded onto the canvas of life. Together we have boarded a powerful rocket ship hurdling toward the outer edge into extraordinary realms beyond our known universe of what's possible.

Outer Edge is the theme of this event dedicated to those of you building with us at the outer edges making the future happen. You're a founding pioneer in this new land. Claim your land and build the future with us. What does this all mean? We set aside space within the walls of the LA Convention Center for community members to co-create a decentralized experience. Showcase your outer edge projects from immersive tech and art activations to intimate conversations and bring the landscape to life with us.

Who is invited and who is this for? Builders, creators, dreamers, disruptors, doers, community leaders, technologists and artists. We have room for dozens of projects to participate in and bring their communities along at a nominal cost. When? Landing, build phase and community activation are during Outer Edge Week on March 20th through the 23rd, 2023. Build on Monday the 20th. Activate the community on the two following days. In addition, we invite you to submit your external events for inclusion and support from the main event.

Where? We will be granting plots of land within the convention center's walls. Activations will extend throughout LA and beyond. Why? In 2022, we prototyped this one-of-a-kind idea with leaders in Web3 like Superchief Gallery. We're approving scores of the same grassroots community-based initiatives and unleashing more incredible potential. Come experience and co-create the electrifying energy that defines and inspires builders. It's all the benefits of decentralization all in one place. Save on Ubers. Save on stress. Immerse yourself. How? Apply now.

Welcome everyone to this special edition of NFT LA Twitter Spaces. It's Outer Edge. How are you doing? I hope everyone is doing fine. I am joined by my co-anchors, @TheNFTease, @ZachSekar and some amazing guests who decided to join us in these amazing announcements. Take it away from me then. How are you doing?

Now that I hear the Outer Edge, all I want to sing is, "Everything you say to me because won't stop closing to the edge." I'm such a nerd. You have to tolerate me. It's exciting. If it's your first time reading this, we have a special space. NFT LA is up on stage. We got Josh and Zach here per usual to give you the lowdown on what interesting news is coming up. There are some amazing posts.

We have Miss Nicole Buffett. We're excited to have you here. You have been doing some amazing paintings and some beautiful art in the NFT world. You've been evangelizing in this space quite a bit. You touch on topics that interest me on health, wellness, spirituality and things like that in some of the past interviews I've seen. I was grateful to have you. Thanks for joining us.

Thank you so much for having me.

We're delighted. With that, Josh, I wanted to tip it to you first. Do you want to talk a little bit about what these changes to NFT LA are or the Outer Edge, what the thought process was behind it and where we're going from here? It gives me a very Star Trek-y feel. That's in line with another announcement that we made.

We love this space. We are so excited about the future. In the process of doing our show over the last few years, there's always this debate, "Is each month like 7 years or 9 years?" Time is flying. In the process of time flying, we have realized that there's so much more to talk about. There's so much more to Web3 and this technology convergence with AI and everything else. We wanted to reflect that in the theme for the year, be more encompassing of all the different components of Web3, DAOs, DeFi, AI and all this good stuff, have a broader conversation and make sure that everyone could come to the table together and collaborate because that's what's happening.

I was in a car driving to an event with a cool guy I met in LA that is all about DAOs. He is like, "NFTs are cool. I love DAOs. I'm part of the Web3 community." I was like, "You're going to love the new name because we want you to be part of this community as well." This is not a flash-in-the-pan decision. There has been a lot of time, critical thinking and support to pull this off. We feel it's the right direction to reflect on where we are in the space and where it's all going.

It's all about collaboration and community. I felt like it trimmed out a lot of the fat and the naysayers. We're left with the core of enthusiasts. It has been an amazing experience connecting with people week after week in this space. Nicole, I pinned up some of your most recent posts regarding your project and your genesis collection. I wanted to get some time, jump over into that for a little bit and talk about it because it's very interesting. It's your style and what you've done here by getting physical items with digital items. We're excited to see these activations and things at NFT LA or Outer Edge and experience that IRL with some of our other featured artists. Can you give us a little bit of background?

The image that's pinned is my studio. Those are the most recent edition of Spirit Coins. That was my genesis collection. The first group of NFTs that I ever created is something I called Spirit Coins. They're paintings based on a native practice called council holding where you people sit in a circle and share with the talking stick with the objective being conflict resolution. I learned about this right before the pandemic or right before I got into the NFT space and Web3. I was super inspired by it and blown away by the power of such a simple act and how deeply transformative it is.

I started making these paintings at that time. The pandemic hits and then I'm introduced to Web3 and NFTs. I'm a painter. I make things with my hands. I make things in nature. My work is very much about where the intersection of spirituality and art meet. That's my reality and where I live. When I first got introduced to the space, it was super digital. A lot of the work was flat, graphic and two-dimensional. It's work that I appreciated but didn't relate to.

I thought it would be fun and I thought that work at that time. There was a radical quality in how simple the work is. I thought, "I'm going to share something super simple." At that point, simplicity, light and clarity were so much needed in my life and the world in every way. I took a chance and thought, "I'm going to do this and call them Spirit Coins because this whole new currency and this whole idea of valuing spirit and human beings over all other currencies is what is needed."

NFT Introducing The Outer Edge L.A. | Outer Edge
Outer Edge: This whole idea of valuing spirit and human beings over all other currencies is what is needed.

That's where this whole body of work came from. That's the origin story of this whole body of work. What you see in the pin picture is the most recent set of 22 Spirit Coins that I created for a convention that happened in Singapore. It's a self-help or self-transformation convention. I shared about what it means to be an artist, the creative process and how that is one of the most healing things we can do for ourselves and others. It's to get in touch with our creativity.

One last thing that I'm very excited about is I created an 88-card oracle deck based on my Spirit Coins. It's a physical deck that you can use. That was super exciting to work on that, write and give voice to the images. My heart is with Web3 and NFTs. They pushed me to speak to Outer Edge. Truly, that is a perfect word. I've been pushed to the outer edge of my creative expression. It has given birth to so many new aspects, collaborations and artworks that would never have even existed previously. I am excited about being at Outer Edge.

Thanks, Nicole. That's one reason we're honored to have her on this special edition. We met Nicole in the community at another event before we produced our first NFT LA. In the process of doing our show, which has been a cool way to get to know people, we vibed and decided to do a collab called these Spirit Seeds based on her Spirit Coin collection and our first event.

It was a great example of co-creation. We have been thinking hard about how to make experiences and events more co-creative. We have heard all these amazing and touching stories of people that have met through NFT LA, have become business partners, have created pieces of music together, have done art together and have done mints together. It's like, "How can we create a more co-creative environment based on the types of things we did with Superchief?"

It includes some special stuff that we wanted to do that I don't think has been done before. We wanted to tell you a little bit more about it. We brought up Nicole because we're working on some ideas together. We brought up CryptoJeweler, the one and only because we've got a special collab in the making. You all will get some early alpha on that.

These are examples of the type of co-creation we want to do. If there are artists in the audience and if there are emerging projects that are trying to find their way and want to figure out cool collaborations, we want you all to know that our home is your home. We will break down some of these details for you over the course of this. I'm so excited about all this stuff that we have to share with the community.

It's all good things. It's great because Nicole was touching on something. I felt like that is the core of everything here that we're working on. It's important that we don't lose track of that. We are being disruptors. We're trying to pioneer a new image and vision for the world. Simplicity was a word. That's sometimes something that's extremely lacking in what we do.

We are being disruptors. We're trying to pioneer a new image and vision for the world. Simplicity is a word that's sometimes extremely lacking in what we do. It’s important to bring it back. Click To Tweet

We're talking about complicated technology. Simplicity falls out of the terminology but bringing it back to the simplicity of what that desire is and that motivation and pushing that into the outer edge is important. I'm grateful to make that connection. I also see some amazing people in the audience. I see Dr. Proctor down there. We met forever ago. You're one of my favorite astronauts. You got to tell me how space was. That's cool. That reminds me of the experiences I get to have in going to these events and connecting with these amazing people.

Ben, you're going to get some more alpha because we are talking to Kyle and Dr. Proctor about an Outer Edge space activation.

Is this where we're going to get Will Shatner? We can compare notes on what's on set versus what's in space. He has been to space. That one is a true legend.

Anything is possible.

For anyone who hadn't already seen the announcement, Ben is alluding to the announced keynote speaker of the Outer Edge LA, It's the one and only William Shatner.

My stepdad was freaking out because that's his hero. I have an obligatory autograph I have to snag from that man. He's a personal hero too. I love him. I want to take it back to you, Nicole, because I want to hear a little bit about how you stumbled on the arts and what set you on this path. There are so many different avenues artists are taking when they're getting into Web3 and talking about what you get exposed to when you come to an event like NFT LA. It can be overwhelming trying to understand how to take the physical into the digital and what you can do with access and all those things. You've experienced that. Can you give us a little bit about how you started this journey and how comfortable you are?

How I started this journey is that it was a way to share my art with the world and connect. The beauty of this is that I've been a working professional artist all my life. I have my masters. I've been represented by galleries. I've exhibited it internationally and all these things. The reason why I bring this up is that up until Web3, my career felt like it was idling even though I'm doing everything. We're engaging. I'm having shows. The power and the ability to truly connect and expand inside this space are phenomenal.

I feel like my art career began with Web3. It made so much sense. It helped me make sense of why things were at the place that they were. The key is this whole new cultural shift around collaboration and partnership. That's what was missing in my life as a painter. That's a very singular experience. It's known. I'm in my studio. I'm painting. I'm alone. I love my alone time but I also love sharing. I do it so that I can connect. That's why we do what we do.

The pivot for me was not just learning the technology, minting and getting into the digitizing of the work. That was the first basic layer. The second was working with people. First of all, it's not learning in a vacuum. You have to be vulnerable. I pushed myself in uncomfortable ways. I was uncomfortable for a long time. I still am in some ways uncomfortable with technology, to be honest, and that's okay. The outcome and the function that the space offers are so rewarding. I find that when you meet the space, it meets you. The people will come.

NFT Introducing The Outer Edge L.A. | Outer Edge
Outer Edge: The outcome and the function that the space offers are so rewarding. When you meet the space, it meets you.

These are big questions. It's life-changing and world-changing but the next layer pivot for me was starting to work with animators and handing over the work, even Eathan from Outer Edge. That was an amazing experience. We are friends. We work together. I love being like, "I want to see what you do with these coins. What are you going to do with these?" He made them into these dope two-bit generated animations. I wouldn't have thought of doing that. I loved it.

It's making it fun, working with people, letting people inform your work, not being attached to a specific aesthetic and then blending the ability that this space has to bring in activism because the impact is another aspect of the wind behind the sails of how we get to show up as artists in the world. This has beefed up my identity. It's taking us out of that old paradigm of isolation. It's quite the opposite. It's this activated, abundant and amazing experience. We go farther together. Art and our life get better together. Everything gets better. This space is proof of that. I am an evangelical voice in this space.

You're like, "It's complicated and intimidating." I've been years in this space. It's still complicated and intimidating but it's with the people that are willing to take the risk. We're grateful to have you as part of this community.

Thank you. I'm honored.

Before we lose a little bit of what Nicole said, she said something about feeling uncomfortable or still getting comfortable. I want to highlight that because I firmly believe that you're not going anywhere special unless you're getting into uncomfortable places. If you're sitting there and doing something that feels natural and normal, it's easy. I challenge you to push yourself farther.

They have a word for the place that's far away from your comfort zone. They call that being on the edge.

I feel like I've been on the edge during this theme change.

It's important to highlight two big points here. We want to honor those people in the community that are in that place with this event. We call them the builders, the creators, the explorers or whatever you are. We're here to support you, bring you in and let you showcase what you're doing. To be honest, we feel a little bit vulnerable pushing the edges and making things happen. The other side of that too that Nicole brought up is working with other people also puts you in a vulnerable place in a place where you're pushing your boundaries. We want to encourage that and support that.

Builders, creators, explorers, or whatever you are, the Outer Edge is here to support you, bring you in, and let you showcase what you're doing. Click To Tweet

The last thing I want to highlight to everybody which Josh mentioned off the cuff there is we're pushing our edges here by bringing this event to you and offering you what we believe is the edge of what we can offer in terms of something new, something interesting, something exciting or something that hasn't been done before. This is an invitation. You will hear more about it but there are going to be plenty of invitations for you out there, whoever you are, to come and participate with us and be rewarded for that participation.

I want to break down what this means more specifically for folks. We have a lot of special people that have joined this from Mr. David Bianchi to CryptoJeweler and Keith Botha. I want to at least give everyone a chance to chime in and share their thoughts on what's going on as well. We love community feedback. We have been consulting a lot of these folks. We don't make decisions in a vacuum. We look to the community for guidance along the way. After all, that is co-creation.

NFT Introducing The Outer Edge L.A. | Outer Edge
Outer Edge: We don't make decisions in a vacuum. We look to the community for guidance along the way. After all, that is co-creation.

There are a couple of components of this event that fit the theme. We've got William Shatner, which is so special. We're honored to have him at our event. We also are doing something different with the structure of the actual event. The core event is going to be on Tuesday and Wednesday from March 21st and March 22nd, 2023. As you can imagine, it's going to be in the convention center with a lot of creative space. There are going to be multiple stages that are separated in creative ways.

On the outer edge of both sides of the room is a designated space for the community. These are plots of physical land inside of our event. They're 10×10 and 10×20 pieces of land that are available to the community activations to apply and receive. There's a very nominal deposit, which is intended to say, "Are you going to come and do something cool?" Creativity wins. If you go to our website, OuterEdge.live/co-create, you can apply for a plot of land.

This is for artists, technologists, futurists and anyone that wants to add value to this space and showcase their talents, their passions and what they're working on and gifting the community with some experience that adds value to the space. We have been hearing so many cool ideas. We're like, "How do we do this?" This is our solution to that. There's another component too to the Outer Edge. We know the outer edge of creativity does not live in the convention center. It lives in our community. Thursday is to celebrate the whole Outer Edge. People are planning some crazy and fun stuff like wellness activations, sports activations and art activations on Community Day.

The outer edge of creativity does not live in the convention center. It lives in our community. Click To Tweet

In addition to having a calendar of events that happen in the evenings and around the core event, we're working with people to support events on Community Day to get people out into the community and see what's going on all over LA. People are going to be coming to town from Asia, South America, Canada and Europe. We want them to see everything, get some vitamin D, get out in the community and check out cool parties, art galleries and all that stuff. That is also part of the theme of 2023.

This concept of the Outer Edge means cool collaborations. I want to highlight one that is special with the CryptoJeweler. I'll let him explain it. He came to us and said, "I want to do something cool." It was even before we announced the Outer Edge concept and this Outer Edge activation opportunity but it fits perfectly what we're trying to do here. CryptoJeweler, if you want to say what's up, tell everyone a little bit about your experience at the last NFT LA and what you decided you wanted to do together with us. CryptoJeweler, what's up?

Thank you so much for having me up here. This is incredible. First of all, Nicole, it's great to hear your story. It's awesome that you're experimenting so much with the digital and physical realms. Those two realms together are huge and something that is going to be a huge part of NFT culture and Web3 culture as a whole. I've been lucky and blessed to have been not a part of but to experience NFT LA these past few years, meet Josh out there and get to chat with everybody who has been putting these things on.

Some of the best experiences that I've had in this space have come from their events. Some of the best insight and knowledge that I've used in my creation of art and jewelry and how I've structured some of my things have come directly from being at those events, listening to those speakers and putting to use that knowledge and networking. It's not only a great tool but it's a flex. I've had takeaways from each time that I've been there that I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Kudos to you for putting on such an amazing event year after year. 2023 seems like it's going to be one of the most exciting yet. I'm super pumped about it. I was lucky that I ran into Josh in Miami. At the time, I was handing out these good-morning pendants to all kinds of people that were at Miami and Art Basel. By the end of it, you couldn't go to a single event without seeing somebody with a good-morning pendant on. I ended up speaking with Josh, "I would love to do something in LA with you." He said, "This is pretty amazing. People are enjoying this. It would be great to do something together."

That's when we talked about the idea of possibly doing some items for the attendees of the event itself. I'm happy here to announce that we will be creating two different style pieces for the attendees and people who are coming to this event as takeaway items. I'm honored to be able to do that and not only share my work but to have so many people be able to participate in that and get a piece of jewelry that is something special to me. Hopefully, it's a great takeaway item for anybody who receives one of them.

I want to be fully blinged out. I want the grill and the chain with the pendant. Hopefully, it spins. I don't even know. Let's swag me. I want my drip to blind people because that's how you do LA.

Maybe I need to do one special piece that's full of diamonds and gold that gets given away to a lucky winner of a raffle or something. We will give away something crazy. That could be pretty sweet.

I want to see my 0N1 character on a pendant. It's so funny because Punk has got the first one with Tiffany's. I was salty because I don't have a Punk, unfortunately. Nicole beat me to it. She got that Punk before I could scoop it. I have long hair. That's the one that closest represents me.

Do you wear hot pink or red lipstick too?

Most of the time. It makes my eyes pop.

That's what it does to mine too.

This PFP is what I look like. I wear kabuki paint most of the time so that people recognize me.

I have something perfect for you then. I'm going to bring something special for you that I have that's created for 0N1 Force that I've been holding onto for a while. I only have a couple of them. I haven't put them publicly for sale yet because I haven't worked out the details of the project but it is 0N1-related. You're going to love it so I'll bring it for you.

He's a homie. Anything I can do to flex over top of him would be great.

He will be jealous for sure.

David is running around. Let's give David a chance to say what's up. We saw him at a special event. Thank you so much for hosting. David is another person that we got to know through the LA community and NFT LA. He has done so much pioneering in the world of entertainment and Web3. We continue to co-create.

Why don't we throw it to Hummingbird Warriors NFT because we haven't heard from them yet?

I'm honored to be here and talk with LA people. We are new to the space. We're the Hummingbird Warriors here in LA also. We're a team of four people. We have all been in the industry. We're so excited to be here. I can't wait to go to our first NFT LA. I'm on a buzz. Many beautiful things have been happening in Web3. This has been a life-changing experience here in Los Angeles for me and my girlfriend who are the co-creators.

We have done five in-real-life events here in LA. We did three beach cleanups with wonderful groups of people and then we did a kids NFT Art Show in Riverside. That was amazing. Children were getting into NFTs. They were incredible kids. We drove to Palm Springs to meet the geezers of crypto. We have met these incredible people again. I'm blown away. I will shield but I want to tell you how special this is to be here in LA and feel your positivity and your excitement for always pushing the edge and creating new events. I'm so excited. We have an interview to talk with you in February 2023 because of some categories you have coming up. We're excited about it.

I'm looking forward to that conversation. Thanks for all you're doing in the community. You came in. You're getting it done and supporting all these things. Is there a beach cleanup event we could schedule around the core event, maybe the weekend prior or Thursday where we can support that on the community calendar? That's a great way for people to bond, get together and still share that Web3 spirit.

I love that idea. I'll reach out to everyone. In April 2023, there are also these amazing art shows in different parks in LA. I'm so excited to meet some more LA people. I've been able to branch out. I've met Darcy Donavan with the StarDawgs and Alicia. We have two Emmy winners on our team. We also have a lot of history from cartoons from right here in LA.

Let's get into the details of what you're up to soon. I want to make sure that we give all these different co-creators a chance to chat and say what's up.

Thank you for letting me be here. I appreciate it. I can't wait to hear from everyone else.

David, what's up?

I'm dipping in and out. We're down at the studio loading in. There are a lot of fun activities happening but I wanted to jump in, thank you for all that you do and show as much solidarity as I can. We started our first day of shooting RZR. It's mind-blowing that we're here. It's exciting.

RZR is such a great example of pushing the edge of technology and entertainment. You did an open reading prior to shooting, which I don't think has been done before. That's probably not typical in the industry. Give everyone a little sneak peek at how you are pushing the Outer Edge here.

What we did and the event that I produced around the table read that you were so generously there in attendance has never been done before, at least not to my knowledge. Table reads are a very common thing in Hollywood. I've been on a ton of episodic television and feature film levels but they're always done on the back lot behind a closed door. Very much there's triple NDA and so forth but in the spirit of decentralization, I said, "Let's do everything out in the open. I'm confident in the material. I'm confident in the screenplay that I co-wrote with Daniel J. Pico. Let's create an opportunity for people to come out and celebrate film three in a public way."

We produced at the Greenway Court Theatre a red carpet celebrity-attended and high-level Web2 and Web3 tastemaker. We had everything from blockchain builders and you gentlemen were there, to highly curated members, ultra-capitalists and studio heads. CAA was there. UTA was there. A lot of influential people were there to hear the entire series of RZR performed out loud by a celebrity cast in a theater of 100 people and a catered event with beverages, food and everything.

It was an exciting time to see people come into the space. We art decorated the theater and tried to create an immersive experience for people to take home with them emotionally around the world of RZR. That's never done because everybody is so terrified of losing their intellectual property. I felt it was important to be able to capture it on five cameras and edit together pieces of this that we will be able to give secretly to NFT holders. NFT holders attended the event, for example.

Another example of what I produced with Gala Film was the first-ever as far as I know Twitter casting competition for a Hollywood-produced series. I created sides or some dialogue and opened up the casting to anybody in Web3, whether you lived in Delaware, Arkansas or LA. The idea was to break down the barriers and make it peer-to-peer. I wanted to create an opportunity for anyone. If you don't have an agent or a manager, you've always dreamed of being an actor and have never done it before, step up to the plate and put your audition on Twitter.

We narrowed it down to twenty people. The NFT holders voted on who got in my series RZR. I took my hands off the wheel. Whomever they chose is whomever they chose. They ended up picking a great actress. I worked within the tone of her delivery. We created a cool sequence. She's going to be a part of the series. She happens to be a SAG actor but within that, I found a bunch of talent that weren't SAG actors and saw people. I'm bringing in people from Web3 to have speaking roles in this series and supporting an actors' union in the world, the Screen Actors Guild. That's all off the back of community philanthropy, giving back and participating. I did the same.

David, I secretly joke that Ben is going to be the next Ryan Seacrest. We're doing a little Howling at the Edge Content Studio at Outer Edge. You would have enjoyed this, Ben. David, let's get some of those dope props out in the open at the convention center. There are some cool props that you are going to use in shooting that we did our interview in front of. That would be super cool futuristic stuff that we could put around the conference.

Please think that is something that we should do. Honestly, that's almost low-hanging fruit. We should collaborate and find interesting and forward tech ways that we can create immersive experiences, not just what Hollywood has done, which is, "Let's put a prop on an art stand or behind a glass box and let people look at it but can't touch it." I want to create an opportunity for people to go into an AR world or a VR world and tactile things and bring RZR to the interpersonal interactive human experience. I don't know what that's going to look like yet but the props are a win-win.

NFT Introducing The Outer Edge L.A. | Outer Edge
Outer Edge: We should collaborate and find interesting ways to create immersive experiences.

We got almost eight weeks, which is 17 or 20 years in non-Web3. We can figure it out.

It's on the RZR's Outer Edge.

David, do you know Keith Botha who's also joining us? You must know each other.

It looks like I follow Keith.

Here's a funny story. Tal had a get-together. You are both there. You probably have been in the same room many times but that's the speed of Web3. Keith, what's going on?

It's so good to be here. I'm happy to be here. Thank you. David, you've attended all of the Party Animalz events. You even came to my pool party at Ziggy, you fool. It's good to be here. We're excited about what's coming. It's a very innovative and cool progression of moving with the space, the trends, what's good in the community and where things are. Congratulations to you and the team. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks. It has been great talking with you and getting your input. You work with so many renowned artists in LA but also throughout the US and maybe globally. I'm not even sure. I see @WARHODL in the audience. It would be exciting to explore ways that we can activate the Outer Edge together.

It's a great opportunity. We have done cool events with other collaborating artists and stuff over the last couple of years. It has been a journey. Every time we add something new, it's always something different but it's the same artist community. There are a bunch of people in the audience like WARHODL, Emily, Manny, Gabe, @Sabet, Camille and @ZHOVAK. Everyone brings their vibe to the events that we collaborate on and put on this massive scene. It's a magical space to be surrounded by super-talented people, be immersed in their world and have real conversations mixed up with a memorable piece of art and a memory to go along with it.

For us, it's a good opportunity to come and showcase all these artists, their different offerings and their styles, fashion and that kind of thing. From Blockshimi, Party Animalz, FutureShape and all of our partners' forefronts and perspectives, we will bring it. We're excited. There are going to be a few secret activations done throughout the week around the area and the conference center and stuff. There are also a few games we are going to be playing where people can purchase almost a slot to have one-on-one time with an artist and be sure to get a physical piece along with its digital twin activation. We're having an artist lounge erected and creating an immersive space for all. It's going to be good.

I want one of those Titanic couches so you can paint me like one of your French girls.

If that's what you want, that's what you get. We don't discriminate against any art or style. If that's what you want, I'm pretty sure one of the artists will represent you and do it for you. There's a lot of diversity and stuff. We're so well-affiliated within the art community. It's the same crew of producers and creatives. Everyone comes and brings their spice to it. At the end of it, you've got a massive creative hotpot of awesomeness.

It's going to be memorable. We are mixing reality, VR, the physical and the digital quite heavily. We have mastered some of the tools and applications that are very Web3-centric. We have married that with the physical experience to go along with it. It works for people that are only being introduced to it and services people that are already deep into it and like the Web3 component.

Do you have a personal favorite style? You're dealing with a lot of different artists that have very unique perspectives on how to approach things. For you, is there something that screams out?

I lean toward a lot of bright vivid colors and pop-arty art personally. If you look at the vibrance, you can't compare it. Ali Sabet and Gabe Weis have their individual styles also. It's hard to say. I like bright stuff. I found a white suit that's going to be commissioned by a very pop art artist to be made into a one-of-one custom suit. It's probably retro vibes with pop art.

I did meet somebody at one point. That's what they did. They did an acrylic painting on top of formal wear. He had a suit and then he hired artists. They would do an acrylic over the top of a white suit. He would wear it and then they would frame it, which I thought was pretty awesome. There are so many different things that can operate as a canvas. With digital, that's going to be the zenith because digital fashion is becoming the canvas of the metaverse as well.

I can create a shoe that I would never wear IRL but it works in the metaverse type of stuff. We're testing the limits of our imagination. Physics is all over the place too. It's whatever we make it. These are all the different things I want to experience. You were talking about VR, AR and some of the high-end tech. Have you done a lot of stuff in VR? Has anybody on stage done a lot of stuff in VR modeling and painting? That's such a cool avenue. I'm excited to see how people play with that tech.

We have been to some cool events in LA that have showcased that type of technology. It's pretty exciting for sure. Ben, I see a couple of folks in the audience that are familiar faces around LA like Emily, Manny and WarHODL. If any of you want to come up, say what's up. We will also leave a little bit of room for questions. I want to focus questions on the community activation stuff and the Outer Edge land grants to make sure people have the information they need to go to the website and apply.

We have Emily up here. Emily, do you want to say hello?

I know everybody in this room. I feel weird whenever I get on a stage and I know everybody. I'm like, "It's me again." I'm very excited about what's coming up, especially with Outer Edge LA. You are amazing. Thank you so much for having me on the stage. I'm just saying hello.

You're amazing too. You've been such a pioneer in this space. You are at the Outer Edge 24/7.

I might be on the Outer Edge. I don't know where I am. I'm over the edge. I'm being sucked into a black hole. I was at David's event. It was incredible. There's nothing like being at a table read. It's interesting to have the actors sitting there and reading the script to you. David sent me the script weeks ago. I read it. When you read a script in your voicing in your head, you imagine certain things but you don't get the whole mood of it. When I went to the table reading, it was so next level. I'm so excited to see it come to life on the screen with his vision and everything he wants to do with it.

It was very exciting. The fact that he's using NFTs to activate all of this is original. The concept is original. The originality of it screams that. That's so important with everything that we do and everybody in the audience. Push originality through your art and work because we're here to break boundaries, move fast and break things. We can do that because we're in a field that is so new. Don't be afraid to try new things and see what happens. I'm proud of everybody in the room. Thank you.

Originality is so important with everything that we do. We need to push originality through our work because we're here to break boundaries. We're here to move fast and break things. Click To Tweet

I love all the people pushing boundaries. The weirdos are my favorite. It's the people that like to step outside of their comfort zone and do something a little weird. That's NFT Land incarnate. It's weird. Every time you see a project that's mooning, it's weird.

I don't even call it weird though. I call it courageous because weird has a connotation.

I'm taking the word back.

No offense to what you said but there's courage in breaking boundaries and doing things that are new and different. When I started my band that's based on a graphic novel and played the character on stage, nobody was doing that shit. I was like, "What is holding us back? The only thing that holds us back is fear. Fuck fear, honestly." No offense to anyone that has problems with bad words but I curse a lot. Have the courage and be courageous. You can call it weird, different or whatever you want but I call it courageous because the sexiest thing on the planet is to be courageous.

I love it. That was awesome. Emily, thank you for coming up and giving us that. It was funny because you were talking about real stuff and making it nice and lighthearted. It's refreshing. You nailed it. There are only two ingredients that are necessary to have courage. One is fear and the other is commitment. It's clear to us that you've got most of those.

Who is courageous enough to change their name right before the conference starts? Here's a shout-out to the big courage of Outer Edge.

Josh has been having heartburn.

Sleep has not been my best friend but this has been so uplifting for me and I'm sure for Zach, Eathan, Jeff and the whole team. We didn't change the concept because it was easier. It would have been easier to do it the way we did it in 2022. We did it because we wanted to drink our Kool-Aid and do something that we think is going to enhance the experience for the community and to double down on some of the things we did with the community like having satellite events at Superchief.

We realized that this is something that should be re-engineered. We don't know what it's going to look like and what activations are going to be at the Outer Edge of the event but we have this idea to do it. Let's give it a try. I am excited about all the different applications that have already come in and the ones that are continuing to come in. I would encourage anyone that has a creative idea for how to collaborate to submit an application. We will have meetings, talk it through and try to make it work.

That's a courageous move.

That's a bold move. I'm in an alpha group called the Dojo with YungContent and Tony Bravado. They're comedians. They have been doing these random videos. I love comedy as a concept for pushing the boundaries of what we can do in NFT. kmoney hit it too. What's funny is he started popping at NFT LA in 2022. Seeing what he's able to pull out in the Outer Edge and having that fun lightheartedness as we get experimental and weird is going to be so dope. Hopefully, the Dojo shows up. We can get my ninjas out there in fighting forms. Everyone, gather your squads and alpha groups. We're going to get weird.

I like that. I second that. I'm here for it. Let's get super weird and creative and crank this shit up.

We talked about this Burning Man feel of community where you have people able to interpret and do the setup and how you have this setup where there are these open spaces to do things. We want people to be visually astounding. We want people to come out, let their freak flag fly a little bit and visually compel you in. That will help give the collaborations and the introductions you need. Be loud and proud. It's how you get ahead out here.

Before we run off though, does anyone in the audience have any questions about how this all will work? We laid out the basics. Tuesday and Wednesday are at the convention center. There will be some kickoffs prior. Thursday is Community Day. The whole week is Outer Edge Week. We will have a calendar and publish everything going on. We have the ability to send ticket holders all over the community for different activations. We want everyone to get a chance to showcase what they're doing.

What do I wear though, Josh? Is it business casual or formal? Do I dress as my character?

We already decided that. You're a wolf in an astronaut helmet.

I need a wolf costume.

We saw a lot of creative attire in 2022. You got very stylish people like Emily and Keith. They're going to be representing. You're going to want to represent along with them, especially if you're going to be hosting the Howling at the Edge Studio. I expect the fashion police won't be arresting you, Ben.

I have to step my game up.

Let's go. We brought a bunch of people up on stage. My hands are good because we have a stacked stage. I want to hear from all of you. I want to hear from the community. Buddha, what's up?

What's up, fam? I applied to be a speaker there but one thing I had a question about is I don't believe I saw an aspect for musicians that was there. I saw others and something like that. I practice 432 Hertz sound healing music and meditative music as well. I'm also a spiritual teacher. I wanted to ask. What would be the best avenue to get connected with you? Would it be that application? Is there anything else that we can do? I'm interested in getting within this community and learning a little deeper behind the scenes and how everything works and flows together.

In terms of the wellness component, our community partner is Peace Inside Live. I would encourage you on the healing side to DM Shira Lazar. She's extremely accessible. She and Jordana live in LA. They're working on some cool stuff, both inside the event and outside the event. I would DM them and see if there's some collab potential.

Music is going to be a big part of it. There are lots of musicians that have already agreed to show out. They're going to be speaking on panels and touring the conference floor and maybe even some live performances out there. I did a little bit of alpha. There is one major band that is releasing an album three days before the actual event. We have had conversations with them. It continues to be something.

These are mainstream-known artists. I'm not going to front-run their news but it has been cool being able to engage with all these creatives, whether it be in the fashion industry, music industry, jewelry or acting. You name it. I couldn't ask to have a better career track than living in this world of Web3 because I get to jam with the coolest people ever. Look at this stage. That's what's up. We got some more people on the stage. If you want to speak up, feel free to throw your hands up. Otherwise, we do have to rotate people because we have other requests. SOL, what's going on?

Honestly, I was a little nervous to come up here. I've never been in front of a stage with this many people but Emily pumped me. Fuck fear. I'm with that all the way. Keith, you're my dog. You're my spirit animal. I love you. Keep doing what you're doing. I'm super excited. I can't wait for March 2023. I'm counting down the days. I wanted to talk a little bit about your opinions on the phygital world and services that revolve around high-quality designs if anyone is looking forward to seeing the physical products with digital collections and collabs and how that wraps around it.

CryptoJeweler is the right person to comment on that topic.

I'm super excited about it. We got started to see what's going to come out of this for digital and physical. Keith is doing a lot of stuff with that too. I love that you said Keith is your spirit animal. Every time I see Keith, no matter what, my face lights up. I'm like, "Keith, what's up?" I give him the biggest hug.

He's got this little wolf tendency to him. He's like a tiny wolf. He's got so much energy wrapped around him. He's on the prowl. I love Keith.

I do think we're going to see a lot more phygital. I hate the word phygital but it's the only word that works. We're going to see a lot of it. We saw a lot of it in Miami. We're seeing more of it across the space. It's important, whether it's art, jewelry, cars or what have you. That presence both digitally and physically is important.

Being able to create these valuable, high-value and high-quality items, whether it be any of these mediums, brings that next level of not only collectibility but brand awareness and allows you to pop outside the bubble and echo chamber sometimes of what Web3 can be and showcase what your brand potential or artist potential is outside of that digital realm. The big winner from this is going to be people who can create experiences around their art digitally as well as collectibility in the physical realm. To tie those two together in a way that is experiential on the digital front and the physical realm is important and something we will see more of.

NFT Introducing The Outer Edge L.A. | Outer Edge
Outer Edge: The big winners are going to be people who can create experiences around their art digitally as well physically.

I love that answer. Thank you so much. The reason why I bring it up is this. If any of you know who Greg Bean is or @Beanstamatic, I'll do a little plug for him. He's my boy. He launched FutureShape360 in Denver not too long ago. He's launching the art department, which is going to be opening pretty soon on February 11th, 2023 on Nomad Blvd. Give them a follow @Metanoise_AD. They're doing some cool stuff. It's in tune with what you're talking about. I'm excited about the future.

There are so many great things going on throughout LA galleries and activations. You could go to 365 Web3 events a year in LA, which is why we wanted to make sure that we celebrate all the stuff going on inside the core event. It keeps you busy. I'm hunkering down and planning this event for the community but normally, I'm out and about all the time at all these great events. We've got a hand raised. Is that someone that hasn't said what's up yet, Ben?

It's illust.

I wanted to share that with all of the exciting things coming around, LA is a big city. We have been working on building out interactive Web3 maps that tie in different experiences, be it venues, artworks, art walks and all that fun stuff. We have some plans to configure a utility map for people who might be coming in from out of town. We're based out of Venice Beach. We know the ins and outs and are happy to help support you in any way possible. We're putting together a big conference map for ETHDenver. We will be taking a similar tech and then applying it to our home base in LA. I wanted to share that.

That's beautiful and so necessary.

That's very cool. Encourage them to put their event on our event calendar. We will be having a process soon so we can get all the good stuff out there and then you can map it out for people. That would be great.

Thanks for having me.

Can I ask a logistical question? What's the time for opening and closing every day at the main location? What does that look like in terms of traffic and access?

We will probably allow check-in around 8:00 or 8:30. One thing different we didn't talk about yet that we're doing in 2023 is at 9:00 AM, the early-bird-gets-the-worm folks will have the opportunity to do workshops. We've got some incredible workshops planned from 9:00 AM to 10:00 with some leaders in the space. One of them will be with one of the foremost tokenomics experts in the world about tokenomics and rewards. That's exciting.

The event kicks off after that around 10:00. The general plan is to conclude the formalities around 4:30 or 5:00 and then go into a happy hour zone, more community events, afterparties and all that good stuff. You're going to want to be at the core event from 9:00 to 6:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday. You're not going to want to miss that stuff. It's going to be pretty sick.

I hope a lot of you come to the workshops. I know 9:00 AM is a little early for Web3 time but we wanted to try this to do more than talks. Talks are great but it's hard to learn from a talk. I learned more from a workshop environment personally. We've got workshops on everything from the technology side to the creative side. We will be announcing those workshops soon later. If you have an idea for a workshop, we're certainly open to it. There will be some advanced workshops and more basic workshops.

Another thing to mention, Keith, since you asked is we are planning a hackathon over the weekend for a couple of hundred hackers. There will be more information on that soon. If you're a developer and you want to hack, we have a hackathon in the works very soon for the weekend prior. We're also planning on Thursday as one of the community activations for some startup VC events.

The details haven't been announced yet but we think it's important to catalyze this ecosystem by introducing emerging companies to VCs and angels that care about building the future of Web3. This is another new addition to the event beyond the ones that we mentioned. There's a wellness event in the making on Thursday as well. There will be a ton of stuff to do. Everyone is going to be busy. Before you know it, the week is going to be over.

There will be coffee. That's all I care about. As long as they can get my coffee in the morning, I can make those 9:00 AM workshops no problem or Red Bull.

Zach is going to be brewing it himself.

You got this, Zach.

Pour-over is in demand.

I have to rotate some people down the stage. I have two more requests that I want to bring up and then we have to close out the space but this has been great. If you didn't get to participate this time, don't worry. We do it every Thursday. We have different topics. We cover the news sometimes. Sometimes we have amazing feature guests but this is going to be ongoing. We plan on continuing to do it. We love all the support. We love being able to have you come up and join us as part of the community. With that, it's kyriaki. What's up?

It's a pleasure to see a lot of familiar faces. Emily knows how to get me jumped and spiked. I was going through the roof. A couple of things were coming through my heart and soul. I didn't respond right away because I was writing in the group chat but Josh, Hummingbird, our homies and Gorillæ Gang that SOL mentioned from FutureShape360 do beach cleanups. Justin who's in the group led the beach cleanup over the summer for Gorillæ Gang. They're the only green chip on Solana. Josh and Hummingbird, you should connect. Do beach cleanups. They're all about the environment. That would be dope for you to connect with them for that movement, collectively doing it together stronger.

The other thing you are mentioning is comedy, things of that nature, kmoney and stuff. From the ethos, the heart and the soul of who we are, where we're growing and stuff, in my mind, we're all kids in a candy store. With everything going on, I coined this thing culture kidZ. Gratefully, we premiered at Art Basel. There was laughing every half millisecond. Josh sent me the application. I'm going to put it in. If you want to do a screening, it's seven and a half minutes long. We could show comedy, the culture of NFTs, the alpha, the language and stuff with good-quality content with good people. I'm excited to add a lot of value and contribute.

Thanks so much. We are talking to Jordan about what could we do with Film3 either at the core conference or on Community Day. We're open to all ideas. There is a financial component to activations but we can all be scrappy and creative when those types of things come up. We're trying to figure it out with as many people as possible.

That sounds good.

Josh, what are our closing remarks from Outer Edge? What are we taking away from all this?

First, I want to thank everyone for their support of this evolution phase and the development of this experience and event and thank everyone for their ideas and contributions. There are so many different ways that we can co-create in this space. It is been a beautiful experience working with the community. That's number one. Number two, if you do want to snag a ticket to the event, come and attend, now is a fantastic time. We extended the early bird a couple of extra days. Zach, what's the exact date the early bird is good?

At the request of William Shatner, we have extended it through the end of January 2023. At midnight the night of the 31st, 2023, they will be gone forever.

Snag it. The prices are lower than they will be at any point in the future. We encourage you to join the fund directly and be part of Outer Edge LA. Lastly, you know how to find us. On the website, we have tried to make it clear about opportunities to apply. You can apply to speak, do an art activation and participate in the Outer Edge. Media partners are applying all the time. We're getting some exciting media coverage.

For us, the speaking part is great but we have reduced the number of stages there by popular demand from the community to have a more curated experience. It's not about the speaking as much as it is about the vibes, the networking and the high-quality people that you're going to meet. We're bringing everyone together in one room in 2023 with a different type of layout that we're excited about. I hope everyone likes it. We will keep tweaking it as we go. We will keep evolving. We look forward to seeing you all in a little while.

With that, we throw to Daniel to close us out with final remarks.

If you like the content, you need to share, retweet it, tweet it out and tell it to the world, your grandma or whomever you want to tell it to. Feel free. Remember, these Twitter Spaces happen every Thursday. Turn out your notifications for the Outer Edge account and the @TryHowl account. That will be pretty much it. Remember to follow everyone on stage. The last thing might be that we just announced our next Twitter Space. We're going to be talking about the metaverse with some cool guests as usual. Set your reminder, participate in the giveaway and have fun.

Goodbye, everybody.
